David Higgins

David Higgins is a favorite painter-inspiriation of mine. I think his Obama pieces have defiantly resonated with me. My great (times whatever) grandfather is John C. Calhoun, yep the bad one. I mean awesome I'm related to a vice president, but sad because of his oppression of slaves. I think for me personally I have been called to somewhat reconcile this past of mine within myself and want to be able to fix my family name kind-of. David's paintings re-ignited my passion to help fund my friends to be missionaries to Africa.

For David's piece, I think I adapted my view and his work together. I took the image of Obama onto the teapot and made the form a milk carton. Personally I haven't been too impressed with Obama's performance yet, but I feel like what he has tried to install in us as Americans has been beneficial… a superficial promise… but beneficial. I think America lost its will for hope, which is written on the back, which is where the milk carton comes into play.
